சஷ்டி என்பது சந்திரனின் 6-ஆவது திதி நாள். இது முருகப் பெருமானுக்கு மிகவும் உகந்த விரத நாள். சுக்ல பக்ஷ சஷ்டி முருகன் வழிபாட்டிற்கு சிறப்பானது. ஸ்கந்த சஷ்டி மிகவும் முக்கியமான சஷ்டி.
Sashti is the 6th tithi (lunar day) dedicated to Lord Murugan (Subramanya). Shukla Paksha Sashti is especially auspicious for Murugan worship. Skanda Sashti, falling in the Tamil month of Aippasi, is the most significant.
